The MICU is an 18 bed adult critical care unit located at Blake 7. Nurses on the MICU care for a variety of complex respiratory and medical patients. Notable diagnosis includes but not limited to sepsis, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, heme-oncology, cardiac, neurology, and infectious diseases such as H 1 N 1(2005), suspect Ebola virus (2014) and the novel Corona Virus (2020). Qualifications: - BSN is strongly preferred - Minimum of 3 years of med/surg experience, ICU experience preferred. - Must be devoted to working as part of a patient care service team; strong patient care, staff development and a diverse workforce are paramount. - Current licensure in Massachusetts as an RN is required. - ACLS and CCRN certifications preferred. Summary. Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes. Essential Functions-Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records. -Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.-Record patients' medical information and vital signs. -Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions. -Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans. -Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions. Qualifications. Education. Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No. Licenses and Credentials. Registered Nurse RN - MA License. Experience. Clinical nursing experience minimum 3 years required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.- Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.- Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.- Knowledge of medical terminology.- Excellent verbal and communication skills.- Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.
