At EMD Electronics, as a Chemist 1, you will execute routine assignments autonomously within established procedures, applying specialized technical expertise in analytical/scientific methods and operational processes. Conduct routine chemical suitability tests and primary reviews using standardized methodology. Operate analytical equipment and software, accurately documenting and inputting data (including stoichiometry and unit conversions) into process management systems. Maintain complete, accurate records consistent with quality guidelines. Support general laboratory functions by performing equipment maintenance, running performance verifications and calibrations, managing supplies and waste, and maintaining a clean work environment. Identify quality improvement opportunities in compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS), including writing deviation records and contributing to the document management program by creating and updating department SOPs. Coordinate basic process, quality, and safety improvement projects with management support. Communicate operational status and deviations to supervisors. Support internal teams, quality, and customer audits, and provide basic technical feedback. Complete all required policy trainings and conduct job functions safely, prioritizing responsibilities in alignment with department goals and core values. Possible weekend work Onsite position Who You Are:Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific discipline (Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, etc) OR High School Diploma or GED with 4 years life science industry experience 2 years laboratory, and/or quality review experience Preferred Qualifications:Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to be a self-starter and to multitask, work as an individual contributor and as a member of a diverse team, a skilled problem solver, and have a strong passion for continuous improvement and quality. Ability to function independently and efficiently under the guidance of management Ability to recognize existing problems, foresee potential problems, and implement measures to eliminate or reduce the probability of occurrence and/or minimize their impact
