Create process maps/flow charts for key MSO workflows (current-state and future-state) using standard IE tools (swim lanes, decision points, handoffs), and validates maps through stakeholder interviews and observation/shadowing. Develop and update SOPs / standard work (step-by-step procedures, roles & responsibilities, checklists, job aids, escalation paths) to improve consistency, quality, and training effectiveness. Identify waste and root causes using Lean/ IE problem-solving methods (5 Whys, fishbone/ Ishikawa, Pareto, spaghetti diagrams, value stream mapping) and translates findings into improvement recommendations. Conduct time studies and workload analysis to quantify cycle times, wait times, touch time, rework, and staffing impacts; summarizes findings for leadership. Build performance reporting and dashboards to monitor operational KPIs (throughput, backlog, SLA compliance, aging, productivity, error rates) and supports ongoing performance reviews. Support process improvement pilots by defining measures of success, documenting changes, training stakeholders on new workflows, and tracking pre/post results. Facilitate working sessions with cross-functional partners to capture requirements, confirm process steps, and align on future-state design. Create “control plans” to sustain improvements (process ownership, audit steps, metric monitoring cadence, and continuous feedback loops). Maintain project documentation (charters, timelines, RAID logs, meeting notes, decision logs) and contributes to strategic initiative deliverables and executive-ready updates. Functions OR examples of projects for this role: (optional, can be great for project-based duties)Key Process Mapping & SOP Build (Intake-to-Resolution):Observe a frontline workflow end-to-end (e.g., request intake ? triage ? work completion ? closure). Deliverables include a validated swimlane process map, pain point summary, and an updated SOP job aid/checklist. Handoff & Rework Reduction Project:Map handoffs between teams (Operations, Clinical, Vendor, Finance). Identify rework drivers and design future-state routing rules; implement and measure rework reduction. Cycle Time & Bottleneck Analysis:Conduct a time study on a high-volume process, quantify wait vs. touch time, and recommend changes (queue management, standard work, workload balancing). Standard Work & Training Toolkit:Convert tribal knowledge into standardized documentation (SOPs, quick-reference guides, decision trees) and propose a training/onboarding plan for new team members. Dashboard & KPI Definition:Partner with MSO leaders to define operational KPIs; build a weekly dashboard (Excel/ Power BI) and data dictionary; document metric logic and ownership. Minimum Requirements: (includes degree/experience requirements, shift hours, required certs, etc.)Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day. Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field (Systems Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Business Analytics). Students must be authorized to work in the U.S. without future visa sponsorship requirements. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences: (all skills you would like to see that are not required)Experience completing process maps / flow charts (swimlane diagrams, SIPOC, value stream maps) using tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, or PowerPoint. Experience writing and maintaining SOPs / standard work and translating process steps into clear documentation (checklists, decision trees, scripts, FAQs). Exposure to Lean / Six Sigma methods (coursework or project experience; Yellow Belt a plus). Job Level:Non-Management Non-Exempt. Workshift:
