The Patient Safety Assistant (PSA) assists in providing a safe environment for patients with identified risks and reduce potential for injury to themselves or others. The PSA will perform functions to enable compliance with JPS Health Network policies and procedures, and Joint Commission accreditation standards. Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities: Observes and monitors patients identified to be at risk for self-injury, fall, and/or otherwise behaviorally impaired. Notifies the patient’s nurse when patient displays actions or behaviors suggesting the patient will cause harm to themselves or others or when the patient is unable to utilize the call light and is requesting assistance. Attends to patients activities of daily living and will obtain and report vital signs and intake and output to the primary nurse. Documents patient behavior according to District policy 910-032 during their assigned shift using all required forms or reporting systems as appropriate. Qualifications:Required Qualifications: Completion of Therapeutic Options within 90 days of hire if working in Behavioral Health or Emergency Department. Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment. Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
