The Vascular Sonographer PRN will perform but is not limited to; complex lower, upper venous and arterial procedures, carotid dopplers, segmental pressures, as well as complex vascular exams on all patients as prescribed by the medical provider. Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities: Performs procedures as ordered and obtains images according to written protocols. Reviews patient history, prior studies or lab results prior to imaging and consult with physician of any incidental findings. Performs complex lower and upper venous and arterial procedures along with lower segmental pressures, carotid doppler, vein mapping, pulse volume recording, color flow, limb volume measurements and ablations. Participates in intraoperative vascular ultrasound, research protocols, student/technologist training, and quality assurance programs. Positions and immobilizes patient on exam table and observes during scan under direction of physician. Monitors video display of area being scanned and adjusts density or contrast to improve picture quality. Reviews and evaluates computer generated information to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. Views sonograms, adjusts equipment to obtain images, including color distinctions and distinguishes audible sounds. Identifies patient orders and works to prevent treatment/procedure delays ensuring the continuation of service. Ensures patient care is performed in a timely manner. Completes documentation and meets current standards including policies and procedures and documentation of all mandatory forms within the scope of the job, including EMR including pre, intra, and post-procedural assessments, medication administration, progress notes, etc. Organizes and accurately performs the individual steps in the sonographic procedure in the proper sequence. Performs and documents quality control on equipment according to manufacture guidelines or department protocols; recognizes and takes appropriate action for abnormal results. Reports equipment problems and failures to Bio-Medical or Manager. Ensures a safe and clean environment with all the necessary supplies needed to perform studies and procedures in exam room. Understands and uses Picture Archival Computer System (PACS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and other software related to job responsibilities. Engages in equitable distribution of departmental workloads. Performs routine assignments using existing procedures, and has conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within a discipline, typically acquired through technical training. Qualifications:Required Qualifications: Completion of program/training with specialization in Vascular Ultrasound. Current Registry with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) in Vascular Ultrasound. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) by first day of employment is required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Preferred Qualifications: CAAHEP or ARDMS approved Ultrasound school, or equivalent.
