Fleet Service Agent - Police

Responsible for coordinating the maintenance and service of the police vehicle fleet. Must be able to exercise discretion in choosing the appropriate vendors for each specific repair request. Must be able to work in a team fashion. Must be able to function with minimal supervision.
Essential Functions
Keep record of vehicles submitted for repair;Coordinate the maintenance and service repair of police vehicles;Inspect police vehicles daily to determine repair needs;Complete minor repair work in-house such as change tires, batteries, lubricate door rollers, replace headlamps and/or bulbs, replace mirrors, trim pieces, etc.;Transport cars and car parts to, and between vendors;Update and maintain police fleet database to ensure all records are updated completely, correctly, and in a timely manner;Perform related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent with an additional one (1) year of experience in fleet maintenance or equivalent relatable experience. Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor convictions, an Open Arrest for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and family violence convictions. Current and valid Texas Driver License
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of basic automotive repair and service procedures, and techniques;Skill in recognizing automotive related problems;Skill in utilizing computers and associated software applications in the completion of assignments;Ability to organize and coordinate preventative maintenance, and mechanical work;Ability to safely deliver and pick up police vehicles for preventative maintenance, and/or repair work; Maintain accurate records;Maintain positive working relationships with the public, law enforcement personnel, and City vendors;Perform data entry and retrieval on a computer terminal;Communicate effectively with others;Multi task and manage time sensitive tasks;Working conditions are primarily in a shop environment with exposure to dust, noise, and dangerous equipment and materials. Physical Requirements:Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds;Occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds up stairs;Occasionally lift/transfer transmissions weighing up to 200 lbs. between vendors;Occasionally lift/transfer large/bulky car parts between vendors;Frequently stand and walk during a shift;Frequently climb stairs and other inclined surfaces;Push and pull objects;Continuously flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees;Frequently move entire body along a surface in a crawling motion;Frequently rotate upper trunk to the right or left or forward while sitting, or standing;Place arms above, at, or below shoulder height;Coordinate eye, hand and foot movement in order to operate a vehicle.
