This position provides clerical and administrative support for Transit department operations, including data entry, document preparation, filing, and database research. Assists the public and staff by responding to requests for information in person and by telephone. Operates standard office equipment and software, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Maintains effective working relationships while providing professional customer service in a fast-paced environment. Requires strong communication, organizational, and computer skills. THIS IS A LIMITED PART-TIME POSITION The day and hours for this position: Monday to Friday 8 AM - 5 PM (part-time schedule will be determined at hire) Anticipated starting salary: $12.09 - $17.08 hourly (depending on qualifications)Bargaining Unit: No Union Representation - - Posting may close at any time - -
Examples of Work Performed
Performs more complex data entry into a department database, Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word. Queries databases and other internet-based information sources. Performs other standard office support work – telephones, filing, completing forms. Operates office machines. May assist with handling telephone calls. May type memoranda, letters, forms and other documents. These examples are not intended to be all-inclusive. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.
Requirements of Work
Knowledge of arithmetic. Ability to use a computer to access, interpret and record information. Ability to accept and respond to a steady volume of requests for information and/or service, both in person and over the telephone. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing. Able to maintain effective working relationships with associates, participants and the public. May require ability to acquire and maintain a valid Kansas Driver's License. An employee will not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
Experience and Training
Required Experience and Training. Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application. Six (6) months of experience of Data Enry. Must be legal to work in the United States without sponsorship. Preferred Experience and Training One (1) year experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Etc.)Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of a criminal record check. - - Posting may close at any time - -
