Performs intermediate skilled work providing labor work in construction, repair, and maintenance of the water distribution system and assisting in plant operations, maintaining water distribution lines, operating assigned machinery and equipment, performing preventive maintenance and repairs, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the assigned supervisor. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, with a desire to enter the field of municipal water service. They will demonstrate a commitment to be a positive and productive member of a team. They will indicate an interest in furthering their education and work experience, which may increase their opportunities for advancement. SPECIAL NOTE:Candidate must possess Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade 1 Water Treatment or Grade 1 Water Distribution Certification or equal grade certification from another state at the time of hire and CDL, Class A with tanker endorsement. ADEQ certification must be obtained at hire. The selected candidate who does not possess the required certification/ CDL will be considered a trainee at the time of hire. The incumbent works outdoors and is exposed to odors and extreme temperatures. May require the use of a respirator. May be subject to call back. Primary assignment will be in water distribution. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High School diploma or GED and minimal experience in the use of hand tools, construction, repair, and maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
