Responds and attends to customer requests in the bakery department. Responsible for various duties including preparing baked goods and other items for sale, arranging and wrapping bakery products, and placing bakery items in display cases. Knowledgeable of proper food-handling procedures. Follows established recipes and maintains quality of the highest standard. Follows Health Department regulations and department sanitation and safety procedures. Completes task logs and opening and closing procedures. Completes temperature logs, labeling, and dating all stored products. Discards product after expiration date is reached and completes shrink log. Removes trash, compost and recyclable promptly. Replenishes product quickly, ensuring key products are never out of stock. Attends to spills and keeps appropriate prep/storage areas in a clean, orderly condition. Uses equipment safely and follows safe knife-handling procedures. Provides attentive, timely, and friendly service to all internal and external customers at all times. Builds and maintains customer satisfaction with the products and services offered by the co-op. Other duties as assigned. Requirements PREREQUISITES - High School Diploma or equivalent experience preferred. A minimum of one (1) year's experience in a retail environment strongly preferred. A minimum of one (1) year's experience and familiarity with natural foods strongly preferred. Supports the Co-ops core values and aligns with the Co-op Code of Conduct. Solid numbers skills to accurately measure ingredients and determine baking times. Practical baking skills. Desire to work cooperatively with others in a team. Capacity to deal with unexpected challenges and changes in one's environment. Creativity for developing new products or decorating confectionery. Adapts readily based on evolving co-op needs or in response to feedback. Maintains composure in highly stressful or adverse situations. Flexibility to work any shift, including mornings, middays, evenings, and weekends. ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Must wear closed-toe, skid-resistant shoes; a head covering (hat, bandanna, etc.); and long pants. Ability to work in varying temperatures (approximately 20 F - 95 F)Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, kneel, twist, and climb. Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted. Reliable access to transportation. Salary Description $17-$19/hr
