We have an opening for the part-time position of Ranger Specialist in our Lakes/ Open Space Division, to support downtown services at the Escondido Public Library. The Ranger Specialist will provide dedicated support exclusively to the Downtown Public Library. This position focuses on maintaining a welcoming, safe, and accessible environment for library visitors and staff. Responsibilities include community engagement, safety awareness, customer assistance, and coordination with library personnel to support daily operations within the downtown library campus.
Key Responsibilities
Patrols downtown Escondido in a City vehicle, enforces City ordinances and library regulations;Prepares and makes oral presentations to library visitors and community groups as required;Prepares written reports on incidents, accidents, and daily logs and activity reports;The ideal candidate for this position will:Work cooperatively with others and contribute to a successful team effort;Work well under direct and indirect supervision;Work well outdoors in all weather conditions;Effectively communicate with the public and co-workers both orally and in writing;Effectively implement policies, rules and laws.
Minimum Requirements
An AA degree in parks and recreation management or related discipline. Experience in park operations may be considered as a substitute for education on a year to year basis. Within nine months of appointment, as a condition of employment, satisfactory completion of P. C. 832 and First Aid training. Weekend and holiday availability required. Must be available to work all shifts, up to as late as 1:00 a.m.
