The Department of English within the College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for an Administrative Assistant I to support faculty, staff, students and department leadership in fostering an organized, responsive, and efficient office environment. The Administrative Assistant I provides administrative support, primarily serving as the first point of contact for visitors, callers, and routine department inquiries. This role performs standard office and clerical tasks including scheduling appointments, travel and event coordination, departmental purchasing, data entry and providing staff support as needed. This role is in-person at the Logan campus and is not eligible for telework. Responsibilities Reception and Customer Service. Manage the front desk during standard business hours and receive/direct office visitors. Answer phone calls, respond to emails, resolve routine inquiries, and direct complex issues to appropriate staff. Administrative and Office Support. Use judgment and tact to schedule meetings and manage calendars. Coordinate department events. Make travel arrangements for faculty, staff and visitors as needed. Records and Inventory Management. Organize and maintain physical and electronic files and record-keeping systems, ensuring accurate data entry and retrieval. Facilitate data entry in a variety of university systems (e.g. Box and Coursedog) Monitor office supply inventories and initiate replenishment orders. Conduct annual key and equipment inventory. Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned. This position description indicates the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications. One year of relevant professional office experience. Preferred Qualifications. Experience with university IT systems (e.g. Box, Coursedog, Banner)Proficient with Microsoft Office and/or standard office software. Experience with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite. Bachelor's degree. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. Knowledge of basic office procedures and telephone/email etiquette. Ability to communicate clearly and supportively in person and by email/phone. Ability to follow detailed instructions and complete tasks accurately. Strong service and support orientation. Skilled in time management and organizing multiple tasks and priorities.
