The Senior Director of Total Rewards is a critical leadership role within the JD North America People Regional Business Services model. The Regional Business Services function holds the responsibility for support to all US businesses within the JD Group, including JD Sports, Finish Line, Finish Line Macy’s, Shoe Palace, Nice Kicks, Downtown Locker Room (DTLR), and Hibbett. This position leads the compensation and benefits strategy and execution across our North America Shared Services function. This leader will play a critical role in building and stabilizing a centralized People (HR) operating model while driving alignment, harmonization, consistency, and operational excellence across compensation and benefits programs. This effort will be done through close partnership with the JD Group Centers of Excellence, as well as each individual business within the US. Total reward packages are a critical part of attracting, retaining, and creating growth paths for world class talent, as well as creating an amazing employee experience, while meeting business strategic objectives. Specifically, this role will: Lead, develop, and inspire a team across compensation and benefits, with a strong focus on people leadership, team effectiveness and business objectives. Partner on Compensation and Benefits strategies with fascia CE - Os and senior leadership teams across all four US Businesses, along with the Uk-based Global Rewards team. Seeks to understand each US business’s unique fascia needs, as well as the collective US business, to provide holistic solutions and service that achieve all business objectives. Researches and is an industry SME for reward best practices that support organizational needs and a premium employee experience, while achieving fiscal objectives; recommends changes and continuous improvement that will reduce manual processes and increase technology ROI. Build the strategy; oversee the administration and execution for all benefits operations across North America including Health and welfare plans, Life and disability insurance, PTO, 401 k, wellness programs, and other ancillary benefits; ensure compliance therein. Lead a transformation to harmonize benefits solutions, contain cost, and achieve financial objectives, while providing industry leading offerings. Brings strategic recommendations to the business to solve individual and ad hoc challenges, as well as proactively contribute to talent management and business strategic objectives. Manage external vendors and third party tools to provide fitting data, and in turn, recommendations to the business in both the benefits and compensations spaces. Partner with the Global Rewards team to support rollout and communication of global incentive programs across North America. Assist in bringing to life global initiatives, at a local level, such as pay band development, leveling, and all other compensation objectives. This role will also have a seat at the table to provide input toward total rewards strategy across the globe. Lead annual compensation cycles, including merit, bonus, and incentive plan administration, as well as ad hoc payroll initiatives, in close partnership with the payroll team. As the business lead of the Workday and Benefits compensation modules, partners closely with the People Technology team to drive automation, innovation, and speed through technology solutions. Defines and delivers clear team SLAs, as well as high-standard KPIs. Ensure clear, effective communication of compensation programs to senior leadership and employees. Manage and coach the compensation and benefits teams to deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality outputs. Partner with external brokers to evaluate, design, and implement competitive, cost-effective programs and data driven decisions; manages all related third party relationships. Drive improvements in current offerings to enhance employee experience and value proposition. Additional duties and projects as required. Required Education and/or Experience. Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 10 years of progressive experience in Total Rewards, with leadership across both compensation and benefits, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Any advanced education such as an MBA, or degree at any level focused Finance or Human Resources is a plus. Must have experience working in a matrixed environment and leading in a shared services capacity, supporting different divisions/businesses. Must have supported a high volume of employees across multiple states, including large hourly populations, preferably in retail, hospitality, restaurant, or other industry with a similar landscape/employee population. Required Computer and/or Technical Skills Should have intermediate to advanced knowledge and abilities with Google based platforms (Sites/ Docs/ Sheets/ Slides/ Forms) or Microsoft platform equivalents (Word/ Excel/ PowerPoint). Must have experience in how to most effectively leverage compensation & benefits tools, technology and external vendors to achieve objectives.
