The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire a Plumber for the Madden Mental Health Center located in Hines, Illinois to receive day-to-day guidance from the Chief Stationary Engineer. Performs journey level work in installation, maintenance and repair of sanitary fixtures, sewage systems, performs remodeling, renovation, and maintenance at the Madden Mental Health Center. Maintains and prepares records and reports relative to the plumbing system at Madden Mental Health Center and other facilities and centers when necessary or as requested. Instructs and guides semi-skilled and unskilled workers and contractual vendors in performing or assisting with plumbing and similar tasks such as digging trenches and backfilling operations for broken watermains. Travels from Madden Mental Health Center to other facilities on an as needed basis, to perform general plumbing work. Essential Functions Receives day-to-day guidance from the Chief Stationary Engineer at the Madden Mental Health Center. Makes regular inspections of structural facilities or equipment. Maintains and prepares records and reports relative to the plumbing system at Madden Mental Health Center and other facilities and centers when necessary or as requested. Maintains a supply of tools, materials, and equipment necessary for the job. Instructs and guides semi-skilled and unskilled workers and contractual vendors in performing or assisting with plumbing and similar tasks such as digging trenches and backfilling operations for broken watermains. Exercises, follows, and pays close attention to appropriate safety precautions and procedures in the use and handling of tools and equipment at work sites and residential and programming/training areas. Travels from Madden Mental Health Center to other facilities on an as needed basis, to perform general plumbing work. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of high school. Requires possession of a current valid plumber’s license issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Conditions of Employment Requires ability to access all locations of facility including basements, crawl spaces, tunnels, attics and roofs. Requires ability to lift and carry heavy items and material such as ladders, bundles of copper pipes, cast iron fittings and tripods weighing up to 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Requires a valid and appropriate driver’s license. Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties. Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law. - All conditions of employment listed are incorporated and related to any of the job duties as listed in the job description.
