Candidate must have an NYS Elevator Mechanics license and an NYC Elevator Agency Technician License in good standing. The nature of this job requires an individual should be familiar with different types of elevator and/or crane equipment including but not limited to: Galaxy, Peelle, Thyssen Krupp, MCE, Otis, and Alimak or Kone, Shawbox and Yale. Able to obtain and maintain a NYC elevator agency inspector license and QEI inspector certification. Proficient in reading electrical schematics, prints, and drawings. Candidate must know the theory and workings of AC and DC motors, basic circuits, series circuits, and parallel circuits. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to adapt to changing environments is a must. Understand brakes, their adjustment, and timing. Must understand bearings, theory, and proper lubrication. Will be required to perform standard ANSI/ ASME inspections and maintenance functions on elevators, cranes, and hoists. Knowledge and skill are required in the following areas: safe work practices, use of hand and power tools, rigging, troubleshooting mechanical and/or electrical equipment, and environmental policies and procedures. The selected candidate must be able to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities, as required. Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills are required for frequent interaction with internal and external customers. Must be able to demonstrate good oral and written communication skills. The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
