Our Information Services Division (ISD) is recruiting for a project driven Journey level IT Application Developer! We are one of the most public facing state agencies and the second largest revenue generating agency in Washington State. Duties
As our Application Developer, you will use your expertise in software development, databases, and system integrations to support critical services within the Department of Licensing's DRIVES system. Working with business partners, technical teams, vendors, and external stakeholders, you will develop and maintain applications that support driver licensing, vehicle and vessel services, and data exchange solutions. You will troubleshoot complex issues, turn business needs into technical solutions, and ensure applications meet quality and performance standards. Strong communication skills are essential as you collaborate with others, explain technical concepts, and support project delivery. You will also provide technical guidance to team members and help improve processes and technology solutions. Overall, you will provide development and technical expertise that supports the department's mission and services to Washington residents. Some of what you will do: Perform complex analysis, design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and support activities using appropriate tools and technologies. Design, develop, maintain, and support application interfaces and data exchange solutions with internal and external partners. Research, evaluate, and recommend technologies, tools, and approaches to improve system functionality, efficiency, and maintainability. Collaborate with business and technical teams to define requirements, design solutions, and deliver application enhancements. Ensure development, architecture, security, and quality standards are consistently followed throughout the software development lifecycle. Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, knowledge sharing, and support of development team initiatives.
Qualifications
What you will bring:Eight (8) years of combined education and experience analyzing, designing, or developing computer systems applications or databases. Take action to learn and grow. Take action to meet the needs of others. Experience can be gained concurrently. Up to 5 years of relevant education may substitute year for year for experience. Must include 9 semester or 15 quarter hours of computer science courses. Associate's degree = 2 years | Bachelor’s degree = 4 years | Master's degree = 5 years What may set you apart:Eight (8) years of experience as a Software Developer. Development experience with the following tools and/or technologies: SQL Reporting Services, Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS), Web Services, SQL, Visual Studio (VS)XML - JavaScript.
