Install underground fiber-optic, copper, and telecommunications cables. Operate trenching, boring, and excavation equipment. Locate and identify existing underground utilities before excavation. Pull, splice, and terminate telecom cables. Inspect underground ducts, conduits, manholes, and handholes. Perform maintenance and repairs on damaged cable networks. Read and interpret engineering drawings, maps, and cable route plans. Conduct testing and troubleshooting of telecom systems. Follow safety regulations and utility protection procedures. Complete installation and maintenance documentation. Perform work in all weather conditions Other duties as assigned What you’ll need Knowledge of fiber-optic and telecommunications systems. Ability to use cable locating and testing equipment. Understanding of underground utility standards and regulations. Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Basic computer skills for reporting and network documentation.
