Schedule:Weekday Nights (7 pm-7 am, 11 pm, 7 am)Weekend Nights Saturday/ Sunday (11 pm-7 am, 7 pm-7 am)Scheduled major holiday shifts White 8 is in search of a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Patient Care Assistant I (PCA). This individual must be able to provide a Night schedule, on weekends, weekdays and holidays. White 8 is a 27-bed adult general medicine inpatient unit, located in Boston, MA. The unit serves patients from culturally diverse backgrounds and geographic areas that present with acute and complex medical problems. Patients are generally admitted to our unit from the Emergency Department or as a transfer from one of the intensive care units. The ideal applicants should be able to provide holiday and weekend night coverage. What do we have to Offer. Weekly pay. Shift differential for evening, nights, and weekends. Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes. Essential Functions. Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested. -Completes all documentation in the medical record as required. -Interacts with patients and their families effectively. -Helps patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks. This may include bathing and dressing patients, helping them use the toilet if needed, and feeding them. -Assist with helping patients turn and reposition themselves in bed as needed and help them move between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one. -Listens to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses. Qualifications. Education. High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No. Licenses and Credentials. Basic Life Support [BLS] Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] Nursing Assistant/ Patient Care Technician [National Certification] Experience. Experience working in patient care/elder care 0-1 year preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.- Knowledge of medical terminology.- Strong patient/customer service skills.- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.- Proficient in computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
