Provides Measurement and Controls leadership for Gas Pipeline and Engineering Design groups within Gas Engineering Department. Makes financial and engineering recommendations and decisions. Position is responsible for the direction, performance management and staffing of an engineering group that includes positions up to Principal Specialty Engineer. Essential Responsibilities. Provides Measurement and Controls leadership for the design and construction project management of gas pipelines with a focus on measurement & regulation facilities as well as gas process design activities. Partner with gas planning group to monitor Xcel Energies' Gas Transmission system to assure compliance with regulatory requirements and reliable operation. Anticipate and pursue facility expansions, upgrades and replacements to meet system requirements and satisfy customer needs. Make work assignments, monitor scope, schedule and budgets, take corrective actions as appropriate to execute numerous capital projects with a typical annual value of $10 million. Responsible for the day to day leadership activities of engineering group with a total staffing level of 10 to 15 engineers and designers. Hire, develop, motive, coach and counsel employees. Lead the development of engineering standards and procedures for the groups project and engineering deliverables. Minimum Requirements. Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution. Electrical or Chemical Engineering degree preferred. PE License is preferred. Prefer experience in gas transmission or distribution, including a minimum of 8-10 years engineering design experience, 4 years instrumentation & measurement project management experience and a minimum of 2 years Lead/ Supervisory/ Management experience or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience is required. Understanding of applicable codes & corporate policies is desired. Experience with managing third party contractors and consultants is considered a plus. Preferred. Controls engineering experience.
