Receives visitors, patients and/or staff members and answers telephones. Provides direction and assistance requiring working knowledge of departmental organization and procedures. Performs clerical duties incidental to the receptionist function. - - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - - Receives visitors in a friendly and professional manner. Resolves inquiries or issues in a timely and efficient manner. Provides assistance or directs to the appropriate office or person. Exercises discretion and interpretive judgment in frequent, and often stressful, contacts with public. Manages visitor sign-in procedures and issues badges as necessary. Answers, screens, and forwards incoming phone calls. Performs data entry and maintains electronic and physical filing systems. Schedules appointments and arranges for meetings. Relays information, exercising tact to maintain good relations. Provides clerical assistance such as completing forms, sorting mail, typing reports, posting records, maintaining files, etc. Maintains a tidy reception area. Handles incoming and outgoing mail as needed, including packages and deliveries.
