The Transportation Supervisor provides direction, support, and oversight of school bus drivers to ensure the safe and reliable transportation of school passengers. The supervisor manages all vehicle maintenance and licensing in alignment with Federal, State and Local regulations. The Supervisor, on occasion, must be willing to drive a school bus if needed. Reporting to the Director of Facilities and Transportation, this position is a full-time, exempt position. The Transportation Supervisor will be scheduled to work the day shift, Monday Friday, and may be required to work nights, weekends, emergency call-ins, and overtime as needed. Oversee fleet operations including working with the transportation team, scheduling routes, tracking regular maintenance of all vehicles, conducting inspections of vehicles, ensuring fleet and bus drivers compliance with all licensing and certification requirements, and managing positive relationships with vendors. Ensure strict compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations; and supporting and enforcing school policies and rules. What Were Looking For. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record as a Supervisor in the school bus or transportation industry ensuring safe and reliable transportation of passengers. If you are a transportation leader with experience overseeing transportation teams, fleets, and scheduling, we want to hear from you. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Unexpired Transportation Supervisor Certification Card. Possess and maintain a valid State CDL B license with the P and S endorsement. A good driving record is required. Experience in the school bus industry or transportation field. Demonstrated supervisory experience. Demonstrated knowledge of all relevant Federal, State, and Local regulations. Must be a self-starter, able to work independently, and under minimum supervision. Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships. Proven problem solving and time management skills; ability to consistently meet deadlines and be punctual. Ability to use computerized maintenance systems and Microsoft Office products. Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal); able to communicate information clearly and in a timely fashion. Critical thinking abilities required; ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions. Willing to complete required Archdiocese of Detroit training. Willing to submit to drug testing, fingerprinting and a criminal background check. Physical Demands and Working Conditions. Ability to work in an indoor or outdoor environment in a variety of temperatures and inclement conditions with physical activity involved, including walking, climbing stairs, lifting and carrying weighted items. Sitting and standing to perform duties. Bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling or twisting to perform duties. Lifting and carrying equipment or items of various weights and sizes. Regularly exchanges verbal and written information accurately with others. Regularly uses vision to perceive detail at close range and at a distance; to identify colors, adjust focus, perceive depth, and maintain peripheral awareness.
