The Program Coordinator serves as the primary administrative and operational support resource for Lurie Children’s community health programs at the Austin HOPE Center, located at 5036 W. Chicago Avenue. This role is responsible for in-person scheduling and coordination of events, programs, visitors, communications and administrative functions at this location. The Program Coordinator also collaborates with Lurie Children’s Ambulatory Clinical Operations leadership to support site-specific communication, daily operational coordination and emergency management needs. The Program Coordinator plays a key role in fostering a welcoming, collaborative and mission-driven environment for all tenants and visitors at the Austin HOPE Center. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities, solve problems and adapt in an evolving environment. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, professionalism, sound judgment and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across departments and with building and community partners. The position helps advance Lurie Children’s broader mission to improve the health and wellbeing of children, youth, families and communities by supporting community health initiatives, site operations and special projects aligned with the priorities of the Patrick M. Magoon Institute for Healthy Communities and the Community Health Improvement Strategy. This position is part of the Operations and Planning team within the Patrick M. Magoon Institute for Healthy Communities, Lurie Children’s hub for community-focused initiatives. The Magoon Institute brings together clinical care, advocacy, research, education and community engagement to advance community health and health equity for infants, children, adolescents and families across Chicago. The Institute also leads Lurie Children’s Community Health Needs Assessment and Community Health Improvement Strategy, which guide the hospital’s community health priorities and investments. The Operations and Planning team supports the infrastructure needed to carry out the Magoon Institute’s work. The team oversees administrative operations, communications and engagement, fundraising and financial stewardship, community health data management and reporting functions. Through this work, the team helps ensure that people, programs, partnerships and resources are coordinated effectively in support of the Institute’s mission. Essential Job Functions:Collaborate with internal and external partners, including community leaders, healthcare professionals, researchers and public health practitioners to identify health priorities and develop community health and engagement strategies. Coordinate the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of community health and engagement initiatives, programs and events within the Magoon Institute under the guidance of senior staff and manager, keeping in mind community priorities, community health strategies and organizational mission. Collaborate with Lurie Children’s Ambulatory Clinical Operations leadership on site-wide specific communication, daily operational, and emergency management needs. Act as contact for Lurie Children’s with community partners, residents and marginalized populations across Chicago neighborhoods, particularly those disproportionately affected by health inequities. Build and maintain strong relationships with community-based organizations, schools, libraries, parks, places of worship, businesses, and service providers. Support coordination of community and city-wide convenings, trainings and workshops as well as assisting with action planning, ensuring diverse representations from various backgrounds and lived experience. Coordinate program logistics, track project expenditures, facilitate meetings and events and maintain project materials and documentation to ensure timely and budget-conscious deliverables. Prepare regular status reports on project progress, outcomes and impact. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, booking conference rooms/space, making copies, preparing meeting supplies, taking notes and compiling key takeaways, decisions and action items. Assist in the development and implementation of communications, marketing and/or social media efforts for specific community health and engagement initiatives and education, including the delivery of presentations to various audiences. Support program evaluation through data collection, gathering participant feedback, and monitoring outputs and outcomes to measure effectiveness and demonstrate impact. Assist in facilitating connections between Lurie Children's healthcare providers and community partners to ensure access to health education and resources for children and families. Engage Lurie Children’s leaders, employees, physicians, and trainees in community health efforts. Assist in grant and philanthropic applications and reporting to funders, as well as fundraising efforts under the guidance of senior staff, manager and dept leadership. Facilitate trainings, provide support and assist with human resource processes for program assistants, students, interns and volunteers. Attend and contribute to regular check-ins with leadership, managers, staff and collaborators, and attend team and department meetings. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Associate degree required. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. A combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience is directly related to the duties of the job. Minimum of 2 years of experience in community health programming or engagement, education, healthcare/public health, administration, or related field required; experience with project coordination preferred. Strong project coordination experience and organizational skills required. Knowledge of the community and personal or professional connections within the community are highly preferred. Flexibility to work in the evenings and on weekends, travel throughout Chicago possible. Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication, problem-solving, organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft 365 software required. Experience with database management and survey software and tools preferred. Demonstrated ability to manage multiply projects. Ability to collaborate with individuals from different backgrounds and disciplines and build relationships across all levels of the organization. Ability to take initiative, work independently and be self-directed. Education. Pay Range$59,280.00-$96,928.00 Salary. At Lurie Children’s, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position. Ranges are regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions.
