We are recruiting for a Commercial Lines Associate Underwriter to join our team. This role will sit in one of our local offices and will be hybrid working 3 days in the office and 2 from home. POSITION SUMMARY:Steward the new business process through evaluation of new business, performing risk assessments and ensuring comprehensive data collection for underwriting decisions. The role includes reviewing endorsements, setting coverage terms and generating quotes. Works closely with underwriters throughout the underwriting process, participates in professional development and collaborates with agents. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. RESPONSIBILITIES - Assist underwriters in assessing new business submissions, ensuring all relevant risk factors are accurately documented. Conduct initial risk analysis to identify potential exposures and evaluate coverage needs, providing recommended underwriting action. Ensure the collection of all necessary data and documentation for accurate underwriting decisions. Evaluate endorsement requests and assess their impact on existing policies, ensuring alignment with underwriting criteria and overall risk strategy. Work in partnership with underwriters to ensure that risk exposures are properly understood, recommending changes to policy terms or risk classifications when necessary. Participate in structured training program to develop underwriting expertise. Determine appropriate coverage and pricing based on risk assessment and generate quotes. Communicate effectively with agents to clarify policy details and gather required information. Monitor and resolve outstanding contingencies. Support underwriters throughout the underwriting process, assisting with risk assessments, policy issuance and documentation. REQUIREMENTS:Associates degree or equivalent years of experienceBusiness or insurance related internship experience preferred. Proficient computer skills required, including Microsoft Office Suite. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity. Demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department, across the organization and with external customers. Excellent organizational skills, including ability to multi-task and prioritize workload. Demonstrated successful ability to input data with a high accuracy rating, and strong attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers. Ability to travel up to 10%.
