The Office of Undergraduate Admission seeks to recruit the most academically and personally distinguished students who will contribute to the diversity of the university’s undergraduate population. The successful incumbent will participate in all aspects of the university admission cycle and should have a strong interest in contributing to office wide efforts to recruit the most academically and personally distinguished students who will contribute to the diversity of the university’s undergraduate population. Incumbent should also have an interest in equity and access in education, and will be a key contributor to diversity and access recruitment initiatives. Responsibilities will include representing the university in a variety of settings, evaluating applications and participating in the admission committee process, managing a particular geographic territory for purposes of prospect cultivation and application review, conducting group information sessions for prospective students and families, and organizing recruitment and yield events aimed at increasing diversity on campus. Additional responsibilities may include but not be limited to: engagement in electronic, online and print communication efforts, supervising student volunteers, event programming and/or participation in other admission endeavors. Specific responsibilities may include some of the following, but are not limited to: - Serve as a key member of the diversity and access team, participating in event programming, communication campaigns and coordinating student volunteers. - Serve on the marketing and communications team, including assisting with general prospective student and parent email campaigns, social media, office print publications and/or the admission blog site. - Serve on the on-campus programming team by leading and/or supporting various campus recruitment events and admission student volunteer groups - Conduct information sessions and represent the office through high school visitations and participation at college day and evening programs. - Read and evaluate applications for admission including primary responsibility for one or more geographic regions. Job Description:Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (to be conferred by start date) or comparable level of experience and education. General knowledge of college and university programs, majors, admission requirements and processes. Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills to include Internet browsers, social media platforms, and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook. Demonstrated ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and navigate multiple projects providing a high-level of attention to detail and accuracy. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to accurately disseminate information to a diverse population of faculty, staff and students. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member utilizing a high level of interpersonal skills. Assistant Dean Level: Prior experience, typically two or more years of admission or related professional experience. Preferred Qualifications:Experience in a selective liberal arts & sciences college/university setting as a student and/or employee. Previous experience supervising student volunteers, serving in leadership capacity within student organizations, and/or event programming experience. Previous experience working in an admission or college-counseling office, including as a student or volunteer. Fluency in a foreign language and/or experience abroad.
