What We Need:Ohio EPA Environmental Specialist 2 What We Do:At the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, our primary goal is to protect the environment and public health. We do this by ensuring compliance with federal and state environmental laws. What We Need YOU To Do:The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist in our Division of Surface Water (DSW) at our Central Office in Columbus, Ohio. Psst. Hey. Yeah, you. As DSW’s newest environmental specialist, you’ll evaluate complex environmental issues related to nonpoint sources and watersheds in aquatic systems utilizing indigenous biological organism groups as indicators of Ohio’s surface water resource quality. You’ll adjust and implement study design changes to optimize data quality and level of evaluation. You will participate in the development of policies and procedures by working to develop and refine specific applications of watershed level assessments and biological criteria as part of those assessments and consistent with Ohio Water Quality Standards. You are going to evaluate and revise use designations, plans, and reviews – and coordinate plans for biological and water quality assessments of specific environmental issues dealing with complex water pollution problems as they relate to chemical and biological water resource quality. As environmental specialist, you will provide technical guidance and assistance to personnel involved in the evaluation of biological and water quality impacts – and coordinate the production of technical documents and statements for meetings dealing with biological condition and sediment quality in surface waters. You will also provide training for other scientists and college interns.
