Job Responsibilities
This is a part-time, hourly position working up to 29 hours per week. Peer Counselor positions are located in Richmond County and may travel to other counties within the East Central Health. District as assigned for community outreach. This is not a remote position. Positions will report to work in an assigned clinic. All East Central Health District 6 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event including but not limited to: staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD). If you are called on to participate, you are required to report to the designated site as a condition of employment, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and 6 months of experience in a related field. Must have experience in breastfeeding at least one baby for a period of at least six months and has been or is currently a WIC participant. Is enthusiastic about breastfeeding and wants to help other mothers enjoy a positive experience. Has reliable transportation and holds a valid driver’s license and drives independently. Has good customer service skills, relating to persons of diverse ethnic and cultural background, and communication ina professional courteous and tactful manner. MAPEP - Under the pre-employment fitness-for-duty this position is considered a. Category 1: Sedentary:Primarily involves light physical work with minimal unusual working conditions. Examples include administrative roles, management, and HR specialists.
