Responsible for accurate and efficient processing of all pharmacy cash and charge transactions. This position ensures prompt and accurate delivery of prescriptions to patients, and provides courteous service in finding merchandise when requested by customers and handling sale transactions. Additional responsibilities include assisting pharmacy staff in a range of supportive duties consistent with the goals, policies, and procedures of the pharmacy. Delivers medications to patients with urgency and accuracy. Processes customer transactions quickly and accurately, understanding all procedures concerning cash register and computer systems. Handles sales transactions, including credit cards, checks, payroll deductions, discount sales, split pays, exchanges, and refunds. Runs daily and monthly reports and verifies employee charges at scheduled periods. Verifies that prescriptions contain all necessary information before giving them to the data entry technician for processing. Records refill requests, ensuring all needed information is obtained. Promotes merchandise through suggestive selling and keeps the front end clean and organized, including unpacking, pricing, and stocking shelves. Obtains required patient demographic and prescription insurance information for processing and asks appropriate questions regarding pharmacy counseling. Follows a systematic approach for assisting with the flow of prescriptions through the pharmacy and obtains HIPAA waivers if not on file. Communicates with patients about the status of their prescriptions and answers phone calls to determine the nature of requests. Greets incoming customers immediately upon entering the store and addresses them by name when possible. Other duties as assigned.
