Material Handler (Machine Shop)We are seeking a dependable, safety-minded, and highly organized Material Control Handler to manage inventory, organization, and material flow within our active machine shop. This role goes beyond general labor; we need an individual who understands how physical material tracking and digital data integrity directly impact production schedules. Pay Range: $18.00 – $19.00 / HR (Depending on Experience)Schedule: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM | Monday through Friday (Minimal Overtime)Location: Houston, TX 77041 Required PPE: Steel-toed boots and safety gloves Must have a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent; must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check upon a conditional offer. Key Responsibilities. Move raw materials throughout the facility using forklifts and pallet jacks. Stage materials for machinists based on shop orders, travelers, and direction from leadership. Help locate, sort, label, and organize materials in racks, lanes, and staging areas. Perform regular cycle counts and track inventory health using computer systems, scanners, or basic ERP/inventory data entry. Utilize Microsoft Excel to log material usage, manage inventory records, and reconcile discrepancies between physical stock and system data. Support inbound and outbound movements, manage shipping documentation, verify part numbers/labels against shop paperwork, and coordinate with carriers. Actively support, including cleaning, sorting, standardizing, and sustaining work areas. Ensure all aisles, racks, and staging areas are kept clean, organized, and free of safety hazards. Communicate clearly with production and leadership when material is missing, damaged, or delayed. Strictly follow all safety requirements, forklift safety protocols, and housekeeping standards. Qualifications & Skills 2–4 years of experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, machine shop, or industrial environment (required). Proven experience safely operating forklifts (certification preferred) and pallet jacks. Proficient with basic computer software and data entry; intermediate Excel skills (managing spreadsheets and using basic formulas) are required to track inventory logs. Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and remain active/standing in a fast-paced production setting. Excellent attendance history, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work with minimal supervision to improve staging discipline across the shop floor.
