Plans, directs, and implements all aspects of the HISD athletic programs, clinics, in-services, transportation, scheduling and awards programs. Makes decisions impacting cancellations, reschedules games, and provides a safe environment for students. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Directs all athletic programs, schedules, contests, awards, programs, as well as the implementation of the decentralization of the athletic program. Supervises and monitors the scheduling and operation of sports complexes. Directs, monitors, and arranges transportation for all athletic programs, secures and hires sports officials, disseminates equipment, coordinates awards programs for all schools, supervises and resolves decisions on cancellation of games and game disputes. Serves as the liaison between the University Interscholastic League, Texas Association of Sports Officials, National Federation of State High School Association, National Collegiate Athletic Association, National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, and the Athletic Department. Maintains a current knowledge of, and interprets all athletic rules and regulations. Develops goals and objectives for the Athletic Department. Recommends athletic policies for revision and implementation of the athletic handbook for all HISD schools and other district personnel. SKILL AND/ OR REQUIRED LICENSING/ CERTIFICATION - PeopleSoft, SAP, Microsoft Office. Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier)Teachers Certification and School Administrator Certification.
