Provides supervision and services for youth; organizes, and coordinates recreational activities for individuals and groups in pre/post adjudication facilities within Dallas County Juvenile Probation Department .. Provides supervision and services for youths to ensure efforts are made to promote rehabilitation. Maintains complete, detailed, and accurate information of all interaction with youth, i.e. program records and documentation, including program elements, participant files, daily attendance, and progress reports. Provides weekly and monthly activities reports to management .. Monitors and reviews recreational needs and interests of the youth in each facility to design and create program activities for youth. Oversees the maintenance and use of recreational equipment, including cleaning, resupplying, training in appropriate use, and enforcing safety policies 3. Interviews clients to gather information, conducts assessments of needs and develops services. Works with program participants one-on-one, in small groups, and during events to provide guidance and mentorship. Trains and guides other facility staff to effectively assist with or implement recreational program activities, as needed. 4. Serves as back-up to staff and assumes all duties as necessary, i.e., administering medications, transporting youths to appointments, processing intake assessments or discharges, and disciplining youths. Performs “handling with care techniques, including takedowns, chasing and restraining youth” as outlined in the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD) requirement .. Research grant opportunities, creates, and assists in collaborating in the drafting of grant proposals and reports, as needed, for additional funding for recreational activities to include proposals for new trends in this field. 6. Participates in team meetings to review progress and other pertinent information essential to meeting the needs of the client. 05 E 7. Perform other duties as assigned. Education, Experience and Training:Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Health and Human Performance, Applied Exercise and Sport Science or related area. One (1) year of work-related experience supervising or providing recreational activities with youth in the community in sports/leisure activities for adolescents.
