As a Mechanical Engineer, your responsibilities may include some of the following: - Work under limited direction of other mechanical engineers to research, design, analyze, and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for Lockheed Martin Space products. - Functionally own specific mechanical systems and delegate tasks - Participate in issue resolution and develop solutions to technical problems of varying complexity while assuring sound technical content and timely closure. - Develop, review, and maintain engineering documents, specifications, and technical analyses necessary to support product build and testing activities. - Generate and release drawings using CAD software. - Be a member of multiple integrated product teams, reciprocally interacting with other engineers, manufacturing personnel, suppliers, and customers. - Represent the organization in design reviews, readiness reviews, and review boards. - Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to supervise the build and test of the hardware - Perform stress analysis using basic hand calculations and finite element modeling Desired skills :- Previous experience as a Certified Principle Engineer (CPE), or equivalent- Creo and CAD data management (EPDM) experience- Flight hardware experience- Familiarity with Lockheed Martin specifications, tools, and procedures- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and documentation- Experience with test methods, planning and execution- Experience working with other LM operating units- Hands-on hardware experience Basic Qualifications :- Bachelor’s of science degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education- Experience with mechanical design development and integration, especially in the area of spacecraft mechanisms.- Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) modeling and drafting with knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) - Fundamental understanding of other engineering disciplines including stress, dynamics, thermal analysis, production, electronics, systems engineering, etc.- US Citizenship required
