Academic Advising for assigned teams to include weekly monitoring and meeting with at- risk student-athletes; support of all assigned teams and coaches; Admissions assistance to include evaluating all FTIC, transfer and graduate applications for admissibility and eligibility and meeting with recruits as needed; instruction of at least one University Transitions Seminar course specifically for student-athletes per academic year; active participation in assistance with programs such as study hall, awards nomination and other duties as assigned. Summary of Position Responsibilities Academic Advising and Support for Assigned Teams to include, but not limited to, maintaining a current knowledge of the academic rules and procedures of the University, Conference, and the NCAA. Identify those student-athletes who fall into the category of academically high risk. Assist assigned student-athletes with course selection, goal fulfillment, and eligibility requirements, assist student-athletes in choosing a major(s) that best meet their career goals, maintain student-athlete academic/progress to degree files, assist in monitoring the established study hall program, and report students’ hours to coaches weekly. Provide admissions assistance for assigned teams. Minimum Education/ Experience Earned a Master’s degree by start date and at least one year of working in athletic academic advising. Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience 1-2 years as a full-time professional advisor in an academic support program working with NCAA Division I student-athletes, or at least 4 academic semesters working in a similar environment as a Graduate Assistant or post-graduate intern. Demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with a variety of audiences and stakeholders. Documented ability to build bridges and collaborative relationships. Knowledge of current best practices related to the delivery of academic services for student-athlete populations. The candidate must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of and experience with the educational and cultural needs of a vast student body.
