San Bernardino County Special Districts is recruiting for Park Maintenance Worker III - Big Bear to lead and participate in the construction, maintenance, repair, and operation of park facilities, grounds, and equipment. Incumbents provide direction and functional supervision to maintenance staff and assist with planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance and improvement projects. In general, Park Maintenance Worker II - Is perform and lead a variety of skilled maintenance activities to ensure park facilities and grounds are safe, clean, and available for public use. Duties may include landscape maintenance, irrigation repair, plumbing, carpentry, painting, concrete and asphalt work, electrical and mechanical repairs, tree care, safety inspections, equipment operation, and maintaining records related to park operations. Memoranda of Understanding (MOUCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Background: Applicant must successfully pass a background check prior to appointment. Travel: Travel throughout the County is required, for which a County vehicle may be provided. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced by the individual providing the transportation and maintained during the course of employment. Shift Availability: Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Working Conditions: Applicants must be able to perform heavy manual labor, work outdoors in extreme heat, extreme cold, and in other varying weather conditions. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 (fifty) pounds and have the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend over, and crawl for extended periods in the performance of job duties for this position. Minimum Requirements
Candidates must meet ALL of the following:Experience: Five (5) years of experience performing maintenance, repair, and construction work in a parks/recreation environment, including the maintenance and upkeep of facilities, buildings, grounds, landscaping, irrigation systems, or related park infrastructure, one (1) year of which included providing lead direction, training, or coordinating the work of maintenance staff. Availability: Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. License: Must possess a valid California Class C driver license.

The ideal candidate will have experience as lead worker in the upkeep of park grounds and facilities.
