Perform MIG welding to join similar or dissimilar metals, ensuring welds meet strength, dimensional, and cosmetic standards while minimizing distortion. Review and verify correct blueprint or work instruction for each job; identify components and weld according to specifications. Conduct first-piece inspection to ensure conformance; record results on job card and perform/document hourly quality checks. Accurately complete and update hourly count boards to track production progress. Communicate production counts to supervisor at the end of each shift and properly tag/identify completed product containers. Set up and operate MIG welding equipment, adjusting voltage, wire feed speed, and shielding gas flow to suit job requirements. Use appropriate hand tools, jigs, fixtures, and clamps to hold workpieces securely during welding. Maintain work area in compliance with 5 S standards and follow all EHS policies and procedures. MIG Welder Qualifications Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED required. MIG welding experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Must pass MIG welder evaluation test within 60 days of hire. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Welding certification (MIG) within 60 days of hire. MIG Welder Skills & Abilities Strong focus on producing quality work that meets or exceeds standards, with a commitment to continuous improvement. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Effective verbal and written communication skills; active listening and clear information exchange. Skilled in MIG welding techniques, including proper setup, adjustment, and operation of welding equipment. Ability to perform accurate measurements and basic math calculations (fractions, decimals) for layouts and welds. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve welding or fabrication issues. Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to follow standard work processes and complete accurate documentation, including count boards and quality records.
