This recruitment is being conducted to fill one regular, part-time vacancy (0.5 FTE) for the position of Library Monitor for the Napa County Library. The eligibility list established from this open recruitment may be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited-term, and extra help vacancies at any Napa County Library branch locations: American Canyon. Calistoga, Napa (Downtown), or Yountville, for up to 12 months from the eligibility list's establishment date. Bilingual Spanish/ English applicants are encouraged to apply. Regular. full-time positions are allocated, benefited positions working 40 hours per week. Regular, part-time positions are allocated, benefited positions working less than 40 hours per week. Extra help assignments are non-benefited and may be used for on-call needs up to 29 hours per week (up to 1,000 hours per fiscal year). Extra help employees are not eligible for promotional opportunities open to regular part-time and full-time employees. Napa County employees (permanent part-time and full-time) assigned to positions that require bilingual communication skills and who pass the bilingual assessments are eligible to receive a bilingual pay differential of up to $100 biweekly in addition to their regular pay. The Napa County Library (NCL) has four location locations within the County: American Canyon, Calistoga, Napa, and Yountville. All four locations are an integral part of the communities they serve. NCL'S mission is to enrich people's lives with books and information, which they accomplish by providing a wide assortment of materials tailored to community interests; public access to technology such as computers, wireless internet access, and printing; innovative and dynamic programming for everyone including author events, reading programs, music workshops, DIY and craft workshops, STEM events, cooking, dancing, and so much more! Napa County Libraries are the hub of each of our communities, a place where all are welcome. A Library Monitor at the Napa County Library is responsible for fostering a safe environment at County Library branches. A Library Monitor assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for library patrons and staff in assigned branch locations by identifying and resolving safety and patron behavior concerns, enforcing Library policies, and assisting with basic patron services. The ideal candidate will not only maintain safety and security, but will also proactively establish and maintain relationships with library patrons, staff, and others in the community. The current vacancy schedule need is as follows:Saturday: 9.30 am- 6 pm at the American Canyon Library. Sunday: 12:30 pm- 5 pm at the Napa Library (Downtown)Monday: 11 am- 8 pm at the Napa Library (Downtown)Position Requirements: This position may require to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:Experience: Some experience as a noon duty supervisor or in security, safety, loss prevention, or law enforcement is desirable. Education: Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent. License or Certificate - :Possession of a valid California driver’s license. Completion of a basic first aid course and current CPR certificate is required within the first three months of employment. - Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e., active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position.
