Responsible for assigning tasks and driving performance of the shipping and receiving team. Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments for both domestic and international. Works with shipping notices, bills of lading, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. Works with management to establish and modify department operational methods and procedures. Ensures that goods are packaged and protected for shipping according to specifications. Determines space requirements and position of shipment in boxcars and trucks and lays out position of shipment. Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states. Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specification. Directs movement of shipments from shipping / receiving platform to storage and work areas. Maintains reports, records, and documentation to reflect department activities. Prepares bills of lading and post weight and shipping charges when needed. Analyzes performance of existing shipping / receiving systems, evaluating and recommending innovative programs to improve distribution methods and implement cost reductions. Utilize the ERP system and PC software to enter orders. Manage scrap storage, ensure all scrap data is entered into ERP system accurately and prompt. Prepares weekly schedule and audit daily to insure meeting commitment dates. Coordinates raw materials, supplies and personnel for proper utilization. Work closely with Production Supervisors to maximize efficiency by monitoring production against standard. Contact suppliers about adjustments, incorrect material, delivery delays, etc. Obtains quotes, prices and delivery information for goods that have standard costs and quoted discounts in place. Other duties include but are not limited to reporting metrics such as on time shipments, inventory accuracy, shipping errors and safety. QUALIFICATIONS Possesses HS diploma or GED and 5 plus years of related experience. Experience in the operation of spreadsheet, word processing, and ERP programs for data input and retrieval. Lead experience is preferred. Forklift certification is a plus. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Accuracy and organizational skills are required. Good math aptitude and detail oriented. Demonstrated team facilitation and leadership skills along with success in implementing process improvements in conjunction with cross-functional teams.
