Terms and conditions apply. - - The Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist is a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) and/or Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) who specializes in invasive cardiologic procedures performed in either the Cardiac Cath or Electrophysiology Lab. They are required to perform on a team in the roles of a scrub tech and monitor during invasive cardiologic procedures. Education and Certification Requirements. This position requires:Graduate of an accredited RCIS or RCES program. Requires the individual to obtain their RCIS or RCES certification within two years of their hire. ~OR~ Graduate of a certificate or degree granting program or post-secondary educational program in a health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, nursing, or paramedic/ EMT). Requires the individual to obtain their RCIS or RCES certification within two years of their hire. For Radiologic Technology: graduate of certified JCERT radiology program. Requires the individual to obtain their RT certification by the ARRT within 90 days of hire. Requires the individual to obtain their VI, CI, RCIS, or RCES within two years of their hire date. BLS, ACLS Knowledge, Competency, and Professional Development. Novice-level Competent in routine studies. Working knowledge of technical standards, scope of practice, department and health system policies, safety, and service standards Able to perform safely and demonstrate all tasks related to the scrub, monitor, and circulating duties related to the role during diagnostic and interventional procedures utilizing ALARA and AORN standards. Completes all core competencies required during orientation period. Demonstrates ability to recognize own limitations and to ask for assistance when necessary. Possesses and utilizes knowledge of radiation protection and safety. Minimize waste by opening only necessary equipment and maintaining sterility throughout procedure. Demonstrates ability to correctly and accurately complete charge entry processes. Collects pertinent data about the patient as relevant to procedure. Prepares patient for procedures and provide care pre, intra, and post procedure. Able to set-up all non-invasive patient monitoring Can recognize lethal heart rhythms and other life-threatening changes in patient condition and alert LIP. Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for actions of self and team. Demonstrates the ability to promote a positive and collaborative practice atmosphere with other healthcare team members. Demonstrates willingness to participate in activities in support of performance improvement and improved clinical outcomes. Works with team to ensure provision of prompt and professional customer service. Demonstrates initiative by seeking opportunities for learning and development. Complies with Health system, TJC, CMS and other patient care standards.
