This requisition expires on July 2, 2026 but may close earlier if the position is filled prior to the expiration date. Responsible for general maintenance and repairs in all City buildings constructed and/or maintained by Facilities Management.
Essential Functions and Other Important Duties
Essential Job Functions:Schedules and performs Preventative Maintenance Program. Installs/maintains keys, locks, punch code locks, panic hardware (electrical/mechanical) and all other door hardware. Installs/maintains electrical systems, devices, controls, lights, lighting systems, etc. Maintains card access security system components (readers, panels, etc.)Maintains roofing systems and components and works with contractors on repairs. Installs/maintains plumbing systems, drains, water fountains, commodes, urinals, sinks, faucets. Assists staff in hanging TVs, pictures, art, etc. Repairs drywall, ceiling systems, flooring, furniture, signage, flagpoles, etc. Assists with training of Facilities Trades Technician Informs Facilities Supervisor if a subcontractor is needed for repairs and/or service and gather quotes. Ensure that preventative maintenance program is completed by use of computer and/or tablet. Test and maintains chemical treatments in cooling towers and chilled water systems. Troubleshoot/repair HVAC systems and all of their components with the guidance from a Licensed Technician. Checks and maintains generators. General carpentry skills. Available for rotating on-call. Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance. Additional Duties: Performs other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications/ Acceptable Equivalency:High School diploma or GED equivalent. Five years in commercial building maintenance or related field, i.e., mechanical trades, HVAC repair/maintenance, electrical repair/maintenance, plumbing repairs/maintenance or building inspections or public works inspections Core Competencies:Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers. Must be comfortable using both a computer and tablet for using the work order system as well as ordering parts online and the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Responsible, self-starter able to work with minimal supervision. Preferences:Bilingual in Spanish and English 5 years’ experience in commercial electrical or plumbing or HVAC (including chillers, generators and fire sprinkler systems)Ability to read and create construction schedules with Microsoft Project. Proficient in using Adobe Acrobat Pro software. Auto CAD software abilities Conditions of Employment:Must have and maintain a valid Class “C” Driver’s License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class “C” driver’s license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law)Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, social security number verification check, and an FBI background check. Must pass a physical examination. Must be able to work overtime when requested. Must be willing to work a on call rotation

The position requires work in high and low temperatures, humidity, and requires exposure to vibration, noise, chemical contact, fumes, gas, and dust.
