Perform trailer movement according to prioritization to optimize plant or warehouse efficiencies and production needs - Hook, unhook and move trucks to and from the service department and around dock area - Spot or position loaded and unloaded trailers at assigned dock space for unloading or loading - Connect loaded semitrailers to tractors for the drivers - Maintain accurate trailer and inventory movement log - Follow steps to ensure proper operation and perform periodic preventive maintenance including pre and post trip inspections of equipment in the area - Perform duties required to ensure that assigned area is sanitary and clean - Wash exterior of trucks and trailers if appropriate for yard location - Complete sales route deliveries and/or over-the-road routes, as needed - Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety, DOT, and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity and accidents and injuries - Attend all driver workshops and training sessions - The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Other duties may be assigned as required EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - High School Diploma or equivalent - Tractor/trailer experience, within the last five years preferred - Must meet minimum age requirements - Meet all DOT requirements - Meet Dairy Farmers of America Motor Vehicle Record requirements - Certification and/or License – Current CDL (Class A) license in state of residence; current tanker endorsement if needed KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - Understanding of DOT transportation regulations related to lawful operation - Able to work safely and recognize sudden hazards and adjust accordingly - Able to use computers and technology needed for the job - Skills with math sufficient to calculate load size - Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing - Able to interact positively and work effectively with others (interpersonal skills) - Able to be proactive in seeking solutions, taking appropriate steps for problem-solving - Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork - Able to follow directions and meet deadlines - Able to interpret and apply company policies - Able to adapt and manage to change effectively - Able to perform task and duties with limited supervision - Able to follow through on day-to-day responsibilities - Able to be punctual - Must be able to read, write and speak English
