THE CITY OF CATHEDRAL CITY IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FORPART-TIME PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHER - Applications will be reviewed as submitted. The Public Safety Dispatcher is an at-will, hourly part-time position. The position works less than 960 hours in a fiscal year. Under general supervision, the Public Safety Dispatcher receives 911 system emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatches assignments according to established police procedures, operates various telecommunications center equipment and performs related work as assigned. Training and Experience. Any combination of training and experience that provides the above listed knowledge, skills and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way of qualifying would be:Equivalent to graduation from high school. One (1) year of public safety dispatch experience. Must possess California P. O. S. T. Public Safety Dispatcher Basic Certificate. Typing speed 35 wpm. Other Requirements:Must be able to pass a background investigation according to POST Guidelines. Upon conditional offer of employment, selected candidate(s) will be required to pass a physical and psychological evaluation. BACKGROUND DISQUALIFIERS:An adult felony conviction in California, or with a conviction for an offense in another state which would be classified as a felony in California. Currently on Probation or Parole. Adult felony and/or misdemeanor conviction(s) may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and how recent. Conviction of/or sustained petitions for any sex crime. Recent use and/or possession of illegal drugs, weapons or explosive devices without legal authorization. History of committing domestic violence or animal cruelty. Dishonesty or failure to reveal pertinent information
