The Cathedral City Police Department is seeking a skilled Crime Analyst to join our team in fighting crime through data-driven approaches. HELP US CONNECT THE DOTS. PROTECT OUR COMMUNITY. The salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on the position requirements and successful candidate's qualifications,subject to appropriate authorization. POSITION OVERIVEW - Under general supervision, perform crime research and analysis work in support of police operations and investigations; directs the collection and analysis of crime data while providing technical support for various computer systems; and performs related work as assigned. Key Responsibilities:Researches, gathers, compiles, analyzes and prepares a variety of data and reports from police reports, arrests and intelligence information. Determines analytical techniques and information gathering processes and obtains required data and information for analysis. Prepares periodic crime bulletins for Police Department and appropriate outside agency dissemination; develops and makes presentations internally and to external entities as necessary. Identifies crime patterns, develops suspect information for investigative follow-up and distributes information on crime series and suspects to patrol and investigative staff. Conducts criminal history searches on crime suspects. Compiles statistical data for use by others and participates in preparing monthly and quarterly reports. Compiles and reports accurate monthly crime statistics required by the Department of Justice under the NIBRS reporting requirements. Responds to requests for research of computerized data to locate suspect descriptions, crime elements and similar suspect vehicles. Matches stolen property with recovered property from arrests and search warrants. Maintains records of crime analysis data and reports. Participates in the development, application and integration of computer programs and systems. Training and Experience. Any combination of training and experience that provides the above listed knowledge, skills and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way of qualifying would be:Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in criminal justice, business or public administration, law enforcement, crime analysis or a closely related field. Two years of analytical or operations experience in a criminal justice or law enforcement setting. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s License.
